Abstract
This article discusses the economic empowerment model implemented at Pondok Pesantren Asy-Syifa Balikpapan, which has successfully achieved economic independence through the management of its business units. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The findings reveal that Pondok Pesantren Asy-Syifa has developed several business units such as cooperatives, laundry services, and hydroponic farming, involving students, teachers, and the surrounding community. The success of these business units not only contributes to the economic independence of the pesantren but also enhances the welfare of students and the community. The study suggests developing a more systematic and sustainable empowerment model to support the economic independence of other pesantren in Indonesia. This model is expected to serve as a reference for other pesantren in developing more innovative and sustainable enterprises.
